Our History
Originally, Camarillo Ranch was an approximately 10,000 acre Mexican land grant created in 1837, patented to Gabriel Ruiz in 1866, then purchased by Juan Camarillo in 1875. His son Adolfo built the Queen Anne Victorian home in 1892. Later the barn and stables were added to support the agricultural work and house the renowned Camarillo White Horses.
Today the Camarillo Ranch is owned by the City of Camarillo and operated by the non-profit organization, the Camarillo Ranch Foundation. The 1892 Queen Anne Victorian style Camarillo Ranch House operates as a House Museum, which features rotating exhibits, along with historic home and school tours. The Foundation sponsors annual community events throughout the year, which educate the public about the Ranch’s rich history. The Camarillo Ranch is also a highly sought after wedding and special events venue, hosting over 150 private and public events throughout the year.
